Subnautica 2 Sonic Resonator & Feedback Resonator Upgrade
Subnautica 2 Sonic Resonator recipe + the Feedback Resonator upgrade: Karakorum fragment locations, destroying armored Bloom Cankers to unlock Adaptations.
Last updated: 2026-06-08
What are the two Resonators?
They're two tools in the same family: the Sonic Resonator is your core mining tool, dramatically boosting how much you harvest from mineral deposits, while the Feedback Resonator is its upgrade that destroys armored Bloom Cankers from a distance — the path to unlocking Adaptations.
Sonic Resonator: recipe & uses
Station: Fabricator
Recipe: Basic Battery ×1, Titanium Ingot ×2, Lead ×2, Wiring Kit ×1
Cost: ~2 energy per use
The Sonic Resonator is the backbone tool of every gathering run: aim it at a mineral deposit and it dramatically increases the yield (Salt, for example, gives 8 per node). It's behind bulk farming of Salt, Celestine, Conduit Crystal, Creature Enamel, Gold, Lithium and more, so build it early.
Feedback Resonator: why you must upgrade
Some Armored Bloom Cankers snap shut the moment you get close, so the base Sonic Resonator is useless against them. The Feedback Resonator fires a projectile with ~25m range and is the only tool that can destroy armored Cankers from a distance. Clearing the Bloom Canker infestation on an Angel Comb is exactly what unlocks your Adaptations (like Heat Tolerance) — so this is a progression gate, not optional.
Blueprint: scan 2 fragments
The fragments are around the Karakorum Metal Farms green abyssal pool:
① In the Cicada Wreck (Therapy Room) above the Upper Generator Control Room at the Karakorum Power Plant, near the Blackbox Singh signal.
② Near the Karakorum Metal Farms green pool.
(A third sits in a crevice with Cabbage Shootroot along the path between the Power Plant and the Metal Farms.)
Upgrade recipe
Station: Modification Station
Recipe: Sonic Resonator ×1, Enameled Glass ×2, Conduit Crystal ×2, Strontium ×2
⚠️ The upgrade consumes a Sonic Resonator. Enameled Glass and Conduit Crystal both come from the Alien Ruins / Metal Farms area, so you can gather them in one trip.
One thing to plan for: you still need a plain Sonic Resonator for everyday mining, and the upgrade consumes one. So either keep a spare or just rebuild another Sonic Resonator afterward — the Feedback Resonator is a specialist anti-Canker tool, not a replacement for your miner. Once your Adaptations are unlocked the Feedback Resonator mostly lives in storage, while the Sonic Resonator keeps earning its slot on every gathering run.
FAQ
Q: How do I make the Sonic Resonator?
A: At the Fabricator — Basic Battery ×1, Titanium Ingot ×2, Lead ×2, Wiring Kit ×1.
Q: What is the Sonic Resonator for?
A: Your core mining tool — using it on a deposit dramatically increases the yield (Salt, Celestine, Conduit Crystal, Gold, Lithium and more).
Q: What does the Feedback Resonator do?
A: Destroys armored Bloom Cankers from range (~25m); it's required to clear Angel Comb infestations and unlock Adaptations.
Q: Where's the Feedback Resonator blueprint?
A: Scan 2 fragments, both at Karakorum — the Cicada Wreck above the Power Plant and near the Metal Farms green pool.
Q: What's the upgrade recipe?
A: At the Modification Station — Sonic Resonator ×1, Enameled Glass ×2, Conduit Crystal ×2, Strontium ×2 (it consumes a Sonic Resonator).
