What Is Conduit Crystal?
Conduit Crystal is a fairly rare resource in Subnautica 2 and a key ingredient for several upgraded tools and late-game power components. It only appears as large deposits that must be broken with the Sonic Resonator.
Where to Find It (Karakorum)
Conduit Crystals are found mainly in the Karakorum region. Known spots include:
| Location | Depth |
|---|---|
| Cliff west of the Angel Comb, under the Karakorum Power Plant | ~360m |
| Cliff east of the Angel Comb, under the Power Plant | ~350m |
| South of the Karakorum Metal Farms | ~445m |
| Sparse Plains — shallower and easier to reach | ~251m |
If you can't dive deep yet, the Sparse Plains spot at ~251m is the most accessible place to grab your first crystals.
Prerequisites
- Sonic Resonator: crystals only appear as large deposits, so you must use the Sonic Resonator to break and collect them — ordinary tools won't work.
- A Tadpole: the Angel Comb and Power Plant spots sit at 350m+, so you'll need a Tadpole with upgraded depth modules to reach them (the Sparse Plains spot aside).
Does It Respawn? You Can Also Farm It
Some Conduit Crystals are regenerated by tower-like structures called Conduits, which grow new crystals via lightning strikes — so deposits near these structures can be harvested repeatedly and won't run dry. Other deposits are static and do not regrow once mined.
The easier route: Conduit Crystal can be mass-produced in a Metal Farm — feed in 1 crystal and it yields 2 after about 10 minutes. Once you unlock the recipe, this is the most reliable steady supply.
Since the Power Plant and Observatory are also in Karakorum, it's efficient to gather Conduit Crystal on the same trip you tackle those objectives rather than making a separate run.
What Conduit Crystal Is Used For
| Use | Notes |
|---|---|
| Bioscanner | Upgraded tool for scanning creatures to unlock genes/data |
| Feedback Resonator | Upgraded Sonic Resonator that clears shielded Bloom Canker infections |
| Advanced Battery | High-capacity late-game power component |
| Entangled Power Cell | Advanced energy source for deep-diving vehicles and base systems |
| Improved Fins | Upgraded fins for faster swimming |
Because the Bioscanner and Feedback Resonator both gate real progression, a steady supply of Conduit Crystal matters for finishing the current Early Access content.
FAQ
Q: Where do I find Conduit Crystal?
A: Mainly in Karakorum — on the cliffs east and west of the Angel Comb beneath the Power Plant (~350–360m) and south of the Karakorum Metal Farms (~445m). There's also a shallower spot in the Sparse Plains (~251m).
Q: What do I harvest it with?
A: It only appears as large deposits, so you must use the Sonic Resonator. Ordinary tools won't collect it.
Q: Will I run out?
A: No — deposits near the Conduit structures regrow via lightning, and you can also mass-produce crystals in a Metal Farm (1 → 2), so supply is sustainable.
Q: What's the shallowest spot?
A: The Sparse Plains at ~251m, which is the most accessible and earliest place to find it — ideal for grabbing your first few crystals before you've fully upgraded the Tadpole's depth modules.
