Subnautica 2 Power Plant & Observatory — How to Enter
How to repair the Karakorum Power Plant and open the Observatory in Subnautica 2: fix the alien turbine, activate the consoles, and open the door.

Prerequisites
The Alien Power Plant sits deep in Karakorum, part of the Alien Ruins that also house the Alien Observatory. Before you start the repair, make sure you have:
- The Tadpole Depth Module — you can't dive to the Power Plant without it.
- The Axum Vision adaptation — pick it up from an Angel Comb first so you can interact with the alien interfaces.
Step 1: Central Console
Enter the Power Plant control room and interact with the console at the centre by the window to complete the first stage of the repair.
Step 2: Repair the Alien Turbine
Head to the giant Alien Turbine above the Angel Comb. You'll spot some colony crates, a blue light, and a busted turbine you can scan. The repair requires:
| Material | Qty |
|---|---|
| Mangalloy Ingot | × 10 |
| Strontium | × 10 |
| Titanium Ingot | × 10 |
Step 3: Activate the Control Rooms
Head to the control room directly opposite the turbine and interact with each alien console inside, adjusting every dial and slider until it turns green, then activate the central console to turn on the Power Plant.
How to Enter the Observatory
Once the area is powered up, the door to the Observatory opens. Drive around the circumference of the tower to its west side (the opposite end to the Alien Ruins) to find a door and a lever to pull.
What's Inside the Observatory
Reaching the Observatory is, in effect, the climax of the current Early Access campaign — once the door opens it leads into the latest major story sequence. The tower itself can also be scanned to add an entry on the Axum civilization to your Databank, so scan it on the way in.
Note that Axum Vision is doing more than unlocking consoles: it lets you read the hidden glyphs written in Axum Radial A and view the Axum Polarized Screens in the Upper and Lower Generator Control Rooms — which is exactly why you cannot complete the power sequence without it.
💡 Tip: The Mangalloy Ingots for the turbine can be mass-produced at a Metal Farm; Strontium and Troilite are gathered in the same region (Karakorum). Stock all 10 of each before you start the repair to avoid repeated round trips.
FAQ
Q: Where is the Power Plant?
A: It's the Alien (Axum) Power Plant deep in Karakorum. You need the Tadpole Depth Module to dive to it.
Q: Why can't I interact with the alien consoles?
A: You need the Axum Vision adaptation first. Get it from an Angel Comb (destroy the bloom cankers, then interact with the pink core). Without it the consoles and screens are unreadable.
Q: What materials do I need for the turbine?
A: 10x Mangalloy Ingot, 10x Strontium, and 10x Titanium Ingot. Bring all 30 in one trip.
Q: Where exactly is the Observatory door?
A: On the west side of the tower, the opposite end to the Alien Ruins. Drive around the tower's circumference and look for the door and its lever.
Q: What do I get for entering?
A: It opens the current final major story sequence of Early Access, plus a scannable Databank entry on the Axum civilization.
Q: Do I have to repair the Power Plant first?
A: Yes — the Observatory door stays sealed until the Power Plant is fully powered. Complete all three stages (central console, turbine, control room) before heading to the west-side door.
