Subnautica 2 Progression Guide: Current Early Access Walkthrough
Subnautica 2 progression guide: early survival, Tadpole and Depth Module, Angel Comb adaptations, the Alien Power Plant, and Observatory. Only current, verified progression gates.
Last updated: 2026-08-21
Scope: This is a current Early Access progression checklist, not a complete 1.0 story walkthrough. It orders verified access gates; follow NOA prompts, scan data, and version changes over any fixed route.
1. Establish a reliable survival loop
Before leaving the opening shallows, stabilize oxygen, food, water, and tool supplies. Prioritize the Repair Tool for wrecks and damaged equipment, and the Rebreather for deep-water oxygen pressure. The goal is a safe return from the next expedition, not clearing the map.
2. Unlock and build the Tadpole
The Tadpole is a verified mid-game access gate. Once its construction, supplies, and repair plan are ready, shift exploration toward deeper regions and key scans. Do not treat unavailable high-tier modules as prerequisites.
3. Use the Depth Module to open the Karakorum route
The Tadpole Depth Module Mk.1 is the practical gate for later deep-water areas. Prepare its blueprint and materials first, then move into Karakorum for its connected resources and scan targets.
4. Clear the Angel Comb adaptation gate
Some later interactions require an adaptation from an Angel Comb. For armored Bloom Cankers, the basic Sonic Resonator does not replace the ranged clearing role of the Feedback Resonator. Get the adaptation before returning to locked alien facilities.
5. Repair the Alien Power Plant and enter the Observatory
The current late route is the Alien Power Plant and Observatory. Its guide lists the depth, required adaptation, turbine materials, and console sequence; prepare from that checklist to avoid repeated deep dives.
How to handle version changes
Early Access can change tools, scan conditions, and multiplayer features. Check the patch notes before starting a new save or troubleshooting a block. This page was checked against official announcements on 2026-08-21; Steam announcements remain the authority for version facts.
