Overview

Water slug (tentatively Seaslug hydroclast). A biological enigma that converts seawater into drinkable fresh water. A microbial fuel cell removes salt through an internal reactor — energy-intensive, yet the slug does it. A hydrophobic plastic bulb protects the slug's fresh water reserve from dehydration by saltwater. The water bulb hosts a highly productive plankton species that turns light into food. The slug's beak has a sharp cutting surface suggesting a possible evolutionary history as a parasite. Found in Coral Gardens and Karakorum.
